Hyperboles

Today we learned about Hyperbole.

A Hyperbole is a over exagerated scentence that isn't supposed to be taken seriously.

For example "I am so hungry I could eat a Horse".

This is my hyperbole.

Digital Foot Print Cybersmart Challenge 13

Today we did the cybersmart challenge 13.  We made a picture of our digital foot-print of were we have been online in the past 24 hours.

Alliterations

 This week we wrote alliterations, Alliterations are a type of scentance that is made up of words with the same first letter like Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers.

 Today we learned about plagiarism.  Plagirisim is when you take someone else's work and republish it as your own.

African Forest Elephant Fact Report 🐘

The African Forest Elephant Is much smaller than the African Savanna Elephant.

They have more oval shaped ears then the rest of Elephants, their tusks are more straight then curved and they point downward.  They are a Greyish Black and sometimes

the colour of soil.  They are also weirdly

known for having a highly skilled trunk.

Adults reach up to 24 feet in length and

13 feet in height and weigh up to 11 tons. 

African elephants live up to 70 years longer

than any other mammal except humans.

They inhabit the dense rainforests of west and

central africa.  Elephants need extensive land

areas to survive and meet their ecological needs,

which includes food, water, and space. On average, an elephant can feed up to 18 hours and consume hundreds of pounds of plant matter in a single day.

As herbivores, they spend most of their day foraging for food.   Their diet  consists of

Grass, leaves, bark, fruit, berries, flowers and other plants.  They need to eat about 160 kg of vegetation every day.

Elephants have around 150,000 muscle units in their trunks.Their trunks are perhaps the most sensitive organ found in any mammal. Elephants use their trunks to suck up water to drink – it can contain up to 8 litres of water. They also use their trunks as a snorkel when swimming.  Elephants communicate in a variety of ways - including sounds like trumpet calls (some sounds are too low for people to hear), body language, touch and scent. They can also communicate through seismic signals - sounds that create vibrations in the ground - which they may detect through their bones.

Red Fox Fact Report🦊

Foxes are small to medium-sized, meat and plant eating mammals.

They have a flattened skull, and triangular ears, a pointed,

slightly inverted snout, a long red and black feathery tail

usually tipped in white which is actually over double its

body length, they have piercing yellow eyes and

they have five toes on their front paws

while their back feet only have four toes.  

 

Foxes are members of the dog family. 

A female fox is called a vixen and

a male is called a dog fox, or a tod,

and baby foxes are called cubs, kits or pups.  A group of foxes is referred to as a skull or a leash. 

The fox is the only member of the dog family that is able to retract their claws like cats do. 

Red foxes live around the world in many various habitats that include forests, grasslands, mountains, and deserts. They also adapt well to human environments such as farms,small districts, and even larger communities. The red fox's cleverness has earned it a reputation for being intelligent and cunning.  Some Foxes also live in Fox Sanctuaries such as the Zaō Fox Village located in Shiroishi, Japan where they shelter and care for over 100 hundred foxes.

Red Foxes are hunters who feed off of rodents, rabbits, possums and other small game.

Something that is really interesting about the red fox is that they actually use the Earth’s magnetic field to find and locate their prey!  Although their diet can change as their habitat changes, they will eat fruits and vegetables,

Fish, frogs and sometimes even worms!  However if the Fox is living among human life they will eat pet foods and food scraps from the rubbish to save them from having to go hunting for their food. 

Foxes can run up to 48 km per hour!  They walk on their toes.  They have supersonic hearing and can hear a watch ticking from 40 meters away which also helps them locate prey.

When red foxes are afraid they grin, arch their back to bring them closer to the ground and lay back their ears.  Red Foxes do not make good pets because wildlife belongs in the wild, not stuck in a house, they need to be kept in the wild to develop life skills like how to hunt and how to defend themselves from predators.
